Happy New Year to one all, as we start the New Year, it is all go from the start. The two WOW days have really enthused the children. The trip to New York, complete with imaginative flight and staff dressed as Cabin Crew and pilot, has got the children all ready to explore New York.
In English the children will be working in classes, writing postcards, creating diary entries and developing their drama skills as we look forward to Term 4 and an exciting term based on English. The children need to keep practicing their spellings which will come home on Tuesdays. Reading still needs to be practiced regularly and those children who do Read Write Inc, need to keep practicing their phonic sounds. Our story for this term is ‘The Indian in the cupboard.’
In Maths, we will be revisiting place value, addition and subtraction and multiplication. The learning of tables in a random order is vital, as by the end of the year we would like all the children to know all their tables. Homework books will be coming home on Fridays and the books will need to be handed in by the next Wednesday.
In our Topic, we will be exploring New York City, getting to grips with ‘The Big Apple’ and seeing the amazing buildings and sites. We will be giving the children the I.C.T. skills to search the internet and find information out about hotels and events there. Obviously our Geography and mapping skills will be revisited and challenged. We will be looking at electricity and creating circuits and looking at how things conduct electricity. All of this in FIVE weeks!
