This term, we are learning about our local area in our topic ‘Street Detectives’. We used Google Maps to explore our locality looking at the physical and human features. The children identified street signs, shops, different buildings and local parks. We will be using this in our learning to help us develop our skills in giving directions, reading and creating maps, creating adverts and designing buildings. We will also be exploring how to improve our local area within our science lessons.
In maths this term, the children will learn about units of measurement (time, length and weight) and they will also solve measurement problems. Further on in the term children will be revisiting multiplication and division. In computing, the children with learn about internet safety and our unit is ‘We are Astronauts’. Children will learn to program on screen using Scratch Jnr. They will use directional language to move their character around the screen. Children will continue to develop their literacy skills, within either their daily phonics sessions or literacy lessons, as well as further support being given with the spelling, punctuation and grammar lessons, which take place three times a week.
This term our children will also have the opportunity to partake in a Christmas celebration and parents will be invited to join us! Please remember to continue to read with your child daily and support them with their home learning tasks!
