In year One we have had a sparkly start to the New Year, as the topic for this half term is Brazil and it is carnival time! We have been making sparkly masks, feathery head dresses, colourful necklaces and we didn’t forget to make our shakers to shake along with the samba music.
We also looked at all the different animals that live in the Amazon Rainforest. We made slithering snakes, fluttering butterflies, terrible tarantulas and beautiful birds.
We used our senses to explore some different tropical fruits and recorded which ones we liked and disliked , the persimmon was our favourite .
We had a cinema afternoon with sticky, yummy popcorn and juice. We watched Rio which is the movie about Blue, a Parrot who travels to Brazil and visits the Rio carnival and the Amazon Rainforest.
We looked on our globe where Brazil is in relation to England and have begun learning about the similarities and differences between the two countries.
