Our book focus for the first few weeks was Room on the broom. We began our topic with a bang!!!!
Miss Renwick was checking how our tomatoes had grown in our outside planters one afternoon and was shocked to discover that there were some unusual things scattered around our garden. It seemed that the witch from the story had crash landed. She dropped her broomstick, the bow from her hair, her magic wand and her cloak.
We stopped what we were doing to go and investigate outside. The children were extremely excited to find the items that the witch had dropped, but were worried to see that there dragon footprints on the ground where the dragon had obviously tried to take the witch away. The children were keen to find out where the witch had gone and were encouraged to write missing posters to find where she was.
We are also going to write a letter to the dragon about how he needs to be kind and what he could do to improve his behaviour. Telling the witch that he wanted to eat witch and chips for his teas was really mean and frightened the children.
Eureka and Geronimo classes really hope the witch finds her way back to our garden so that we can bring her into our classroom and re-unite her with her missing cloak, bow, broomstick and wand. Everyone keep your fingers crossed and we will keep you posted. Watch this space...
