Nursery children investigate and enjoy our topic “What is a Shadow?”
Nursery children are learning about shadows, light and dark as we explore our new topic “What is a Shadow?” We have already enjoyed some exciting stories linked to the topic and are looking forward to more. Chasing shadows, exploring why they change size or disappear altogether is so much fun as we investigate and learn. We are able to use torches to chase away the dark and have made diva pots with candles, which the adult lit. We are also looking forward to using light as we celebrate advent.
We have already created sparkling firework pictures during which time we considered what fireworks look and sound and discussed how to keep ourselves safe. We are also developing our knowledge of shapes as we create spaceships, rockets and aliens for our outdoor “Space Centre”. It is exciting to develop our number skills as we discuss quantities of rockets, supplies or other relevant objects and begin to create and solve our own simple mathematical problems. Learning is so much FUN!!!!

- “We mustn’t light these. Only a grown-up can do it.” “We mustn’t light these. Only a grown-up can do it.”
